The nature of the material requires a sustained and heightened emotional pitch from one of the actors that was pretty remarkable. And the switch to the younger actor/character was very moving. Well done.
What I didn't like
The theatricality of the “neighbor” at the beginning was a bit out of place with the more nuanced behavior evident in the rest of the play. I get that character’s function but wonder if their purpose wouldn’t seem a bit more insidious and predatory if they were a bit more understated.
My overall impression
A poignant, heartfelt family drama. The switching of the dynamic between the two characters packs a punch.
