June 26, 2018What I liked
Her honesty and bravery to expose her pain and struggles to the public. Her talent as a storyteller is she reaches every soul in the audience.
What I didn't like
As specified in ticket sales, this work is for older than 10yrs. Someone brought a five yr old to the show which was inappropriate and disrespectful to the performer.
My overall impression
ANXIETY WRITEN performed and written by Jessica Carleton. Hollywood Fringe Festival. Selected for an Encore Performance
We are taken on a journey. We see inside the mind and heart of a young teen. Witness a girl discover her feelings and place in the world in spite of torment, bullies, internal conflicts and attempts to understand and control confusing obsessions.
You are not alone, is the message brought to us by a young woman. She discovers that needing to deal with life you find people who understand you, feel for you and accept who you are. Dealing with life is not easy, but it is what we all must do.
The journey includes sailing ships, a captain, a pirate and beanbag chairs. This show has everything from summer camp to Porte Potty victories. Anxiety Written has Purpose, depth, humor and insight. We are given a gift to see Jessica Carleton perform this piece. Only she can own the complexities of her life. I am so happy she was brave and willing to share Anxiety Written with us. This performance reaches out to anyone who struggles with anxiety and provides advice and assistance. It is unfortunate if you missed it. It was a very worthwhile and entertaining piece of work.
