What I liked

What I loved about the show is that I felt like I was skillfully led on this wonderful journey that is very heart-felt, funny and wholly engaging. I wasn’t bored for one second and before I knew it, the show was over and it had been a great ride.

I also loved the writing in general, it’s very evocative and you really get a feel for whatever era Laura’s stories are set in, whether it be her Mom in the early 50’s as a young woman or Laura growing up in the 60’s and 70’s. I really got a sense of what the world was like back then and what the general mood of the times was and that made the show all the more immersive, I didn’t feel like a spectator but more like a participant, the mood is set so well with the writing and Laura’s performance.

I loved the music too, wonderful songs, beautifully played and sang. I enjoyed how the songs tied in to the story being told and it felt well paced in terms of where the music comes in and how much of it there is.

What I didn't like

Nothing, the music, performance, writing and pacing all felt really good. The overall show length too, felt just right.

My overall impression

A wonderful show, a real emotional roller-coaster that has you laughing out loud one moment and quiet the next as Laura expertly takes you on the journey of her unique childhood and upbringing, the characters that populated it and the stories that shaped the person she became.
