Humor and tragedy are combined poignantly by two very talented female actors and a powerful script. They each interweave their tales, which despite being 175 years apart, share remarkable similarities about the position of women then and now, in both a religious and political context…illustrating that, in many ways, not much has changed. The minimalist set with a burka on a mannequin as backdrop allows the audience to see the action described in their own minds.
What I didn't like
Nothing.
My overall impression
I found the juxtaposition of two parallel stories told in dual-monologue style to be very compelling and thought-provoking, with both characters painting vivid word-pictures about their respective situations.
