What I liked

“Liked” is not a word I feel comfortable using to describe this show. It’s not meant to be “liked.” The subject matter is obviously very serious, but thankfully there are plenty of moments of genuine humor as well.

All of the acting was extremely impressive: Jenny Wood as Lisa, with the clever reactions every woman wishes she could think of; Sarah Morris as Kat, at whom every woman cringes because she recognizes bits of herself; Lazer Friedman as Trent, at whom every man SHOULD cringe because he recognizes bits of himself; and Graydon Schlichter as the successive string of (mostly) douchebags, all distinct characters with their own different approaches at varying levels of offensiveness.

Often when I hear someone say a play or a performance was “brave” I think they are damning with faint praise. Not here. These players bravely expose their personal experiences, and it has exactly the impact they wanted.

What I didn't like

Can’t think of a thing. Well, except for the entire male half of the human race, but there’s not really much a play can do about that, is there?

My overall impression

Yeah, “amazing” is a good word for it. The four-player ensemble presents numerous vignettes taking us through the lives of two best friends: Lisa, the successful attorney being perennially hit on at the bar, and Kat, in a long-term relationship with a guy who doesn’t even realize when he’s being a jerk. The acting is flawless; the fact that the stories are almost all based on events these people have actually experienced should horrify everyone.

Women already know these sorts of thing happen all the time. but every single man must see this show. You won’t enjoy it, but you should see it all the same.
