To create a hyper-realistic, seemingly unscripted stage play is an admirable goal. I’d never seen anything like this on stage.
What I didn't like
Low stakes, low drama; the characters did not seem to care if their play-within-the-play was a success. The hyper-realistic style is better suited for film, like in “Opening Night” by John Cassavetes. Distractingly different volumes between actors. The transitions were long and clunky with no music to cover.
My overall impression
An admirable attempt to create a hyper-realistic play results in a head-scratching theatrical experience for the audience.
