What I liked

The writing. I understand this was originally a ten-minute piece—basically the third and final scene—expanded into a full one-act play. It was fascinating to watch Oscar Wilde’s transition from the epigram-spouting wit we all know to the man conversing with one of his own fictional creations the night he knows he’s going to die. (And the epigrams were so spot on I couldn’t tell whether many of them were the playwright’s creations or genuine Wilde!)

Strong acting performances, especially from Richard Abraham as Wilde himself, who has to hold together the entire piece (and succeeds).

What I didn't like

If I am correct that two of the characters were intended to have faint Irish accents, their dialects were spotty.

Also, the night I saw it there were some technical issues with lighting and unintended sounds from the rear of the house… but those things happen from time to time in live theatre, so they didn’t really detract.

My overall impression

A solid presentation of an intriguing subject. Well written and well acted.
