What I liked

Ty’s ability to track and perform multiple character motivations and affects in a rapid series of turns produces feeling of psychological whiplash, but that very much seems to be the point; this play shows the extreme ambivalence one feels when ascribed a role or category within a community and the difficulty (perhaps futility) of trying to choose another path for oneself.

What I didn't like

At times, it was a bit difficult to follow which persona Ty was portraying, though this confusion helped reinforce a metanarrative that Ty himself was (or could be) all of the archetypes presented for “analysis”.

My overall impression

A simultaneously subtle, suggestive, and persuasive plea for empathy, understanding, and solidarity within marginalized communities, Ty celebrates both the heart and creativity as well as the toxicity of gay culture.
