All of Julia Roberts’s movies were incorporated into the show in some way, shape or form.
I know the writer and director personally and his humor shines through the piece — but you don’t need to know him personally to get his sense of humor and still find the show funny.
This is the double-edged sword of parodies: it’s super funny for those familiar with the source material, but less so for those who aren’t.
However, because the show doesn’t rely solely on parody to drive the humor, there is still a lot of funny to go around regardless of your familiarity with Roberts’ body of work.
Very funny and entertaining.
