My overall impression

As someone who has seen an embarrassing amount of episodes of the bachelor/bachelorette I can tell you this musical is spot on. I appreciated the ways the show commented on the realities of the series from the fact that the people are shown on fancy dinners and they’re not allowed to eat the food- the overnight rose ceremonies, and the lack of casting anyone other than a bunch of white people… I think a lot of really good points are shown and I wish the show went even further showing that point of view, though I have no complaint on that as far as the experience of viewing the show- but I think it could be a way bigger social statement.

The songs were great overall- I really appreciated how the production team tried to balance out having a band and no mics- I really wish I could have heard the lovely songs better, but I also know what it’s like to produce on a budget. But that’s definitely the first thing to invest in if this show has a future performance.

Awesome performances all around and solid direction- oftentimes parody musicals skimp on everything- from songwriting to scene work that even makes sense- it’s a shame because I happen to really enjoy them in theory, but usually they are a big mess with a few belly laughs- this was an actual musical that happened to be a parody.
