Fresh Meat

I saw Fresh Meat at the Stephanie Feury Studio Theater. It was an intimate venue, much smaller than I expected, but the place was comfortable nonetheless.The humorous script and engaging performances by the cast sold the show for me. The presentation was fun, entertaining, and at times believably disturbing (as it should be). The only drawback to the play was that it was too short. Comic dystopian cannibalism--a weird and hilarious take on an authoritarian capitalist society in which people have become the product, and consumers the consumed. It is written in broad strokes, as befits the theme, so if you are looking for realism in dialogue and character development, you are likely to miss the humor. Let the story and its unusual characters unfold for you on its (their) own terms, and you will enjoy a weird and wonderful half an hour.... full review

I didn't get to see the show because I was three minutes late. I understand the need to start on time, but to lock people out and deny them access at EXACTLY 9:30 seems extreme. There was another theater-goer there before us who said he had arrived at 9:31 and couldn't get in. Another gentleman showed up only seconds after we did. If a show on a Sunday night at 9:30 can't start a few minutes late, then when can it? It was very disappointing to drive all the way there from the Valley and experience nothing.... full review

The actors of this play did a very good job with the script they were given - they were very funny and knew how to work the comedy aspect. However, i wasnt the biggest fan of the overall story. The suspension of disbelief was just way too suspended. I didnt really care for the characters, and i didn't really understand the story world that was presented. It has a lot of potential but it just didnt hit the mark quite yet. Taking some extra time for the audience to find a relatable character amd get more background on what is going on would really help boost the story.... full review

Best half-hour frolic I've had in quite a while! Faced-paced, surreal comedy about tenuous bonds between Furries and Cannibals. Crazy comedy!! Furries! Cannibals! Every year there is one Fringe show that I like to name the, “What the hell was that?!?!?!” show. This is the one for 2018. A madcap farce with over-the-top comedic moments, huge performances built on wide-eyed mugging and slapstick-style double takes, this reaches a completely unique tone unlike anything else in Fringe I have seen so far. ... full review
