Matt’s on-stage persona is both delightfully self-depreciating yet self-assured, silly yet vulnerable. It feels like we are seeing the full spectrum of his humanity on stage — a rare gift. Also, this show is a gift to anyone who has dealt with the complexity of grief.
What I didn't like
I want to see it again so I can quote it properly. I tried to explain the hilarious video segment to my partner and didn’t do it justice.
My overall impression
One of the best pieces of theater I’ve seen in a long time. This powerhouse, authentic performance swung effortlessly between genuine vulnerability and giddy silliness. The goofy and the profound both felt like authentic expressions of this exceptional performer. I laughed throughout the show, and when I wasn’t laughing, I was crying. Truly exceptional work.
