The atmosphere (understanding that Fringe producers are often under the gun, they did a good job of creating an appropriate tone from the beginning) The sound design was impressive and effective considering the small scale. Dr. Daugherty had a good balance of braggadocio and earnestness in his convictions.
What I didn't like
“Alex” seemed a bit nervous, outside the range of the character and maybe was having an off-night? The lag time in the beginning was a bit awkward. The ending, although dramatic, was a bit too ambiguous when I was craving something a bit more decisive.
My overall impression
Sufficiently creepy and occasionally wonky, The Witnessing was a nice way to spend a summer evening in anticipation of the abundance of scary offerings come October.
