I liked the staging, the performance, the acting and the truthfulness. He’s very talented. The emotions about her ex-husband and the love for her children were played brilliantly. Clearly, this actor has great chops.
What I didn't like
The writing was taken (I think) verbatim from a recording by Judy Garland, which just rambled on about her life. I wasn’t sure why we couldn’t just listen to the recording. Why was there a need to stage this? Also, I didn’t understand why he didn’t at least attempt to look like the character he was portraying.
My overall impression
This was a great idea: making an unknown recording of Judy Garland into a stage performance. The performance was very good. Clearly, this actor has had technical training and was able to hold an audience.
