What I liked
Northern Virginia’s closeness to the nation’s capital has made it a desirable location for recent college graduates looking for work in the federal government or the private sector.
What I didn't like
Richmond, meanwhile, has been one of the fastest-growing communities in the state in the previous two years, thanks to its cheaper cost of living, good institutions, and thriving hospitality industry. If you’d like a slower pace without living too far from some of the state’s main economic areas, there are lots of smaller settlements with access to lovely natural landscapes, such as Shenandoah National Park and Great Falls Park.
My overall impression
Virginia may seem like slope the ideal year-round vacation destination with its quaint small towns, wealth of historical landmarks, idyllic vineyards and award-winning wineries, lakes, national parks, and beach resorts, but the Old Dominion is also a wonderful place to call home (or a vacation home).
