What I liked

I liked the flow of the timeline and how it circled back round, even if it needed to be explained, it was easy to jump back on board. I thought the use of simple stepping and sitting blocks made the sequence of the story fun to follow. I love the facial expressions and accents Kamakshi uses for her inner and outer characters. The use of song is the best…a one woman musical!

What I didn't like

There was a moment of encouraged audience participation though not clear if we were meant to actually join in. I also wondered if she would have liked us to sing along, specifically to Amazing Grace at the end.

My overall impression

Kamakshi reveals to us an extremely brave person who has used her self journey to explore the hurt and understanding of just how trauma can affect a life. Courageous! Many do not take these steps in a lifetime. She manages to deeply, yet playfully tell her story without leaving us too far outside of her inner work. I felt both sides of comfort throughout the performance. The triumph here starts at the end of the performance, my impression is that it will be ever evolving. I was very moved during the performance and for much of the remaining day.
