What I liked

The humor and warmth, and the honesty about the very personal thoughts of someone living with such an immense tragedy but still continuing to make the most of her life.

What I didn't like

The runtime should be accurately reported, this show was a hard 85 minutes, not 70 as described. In a festival setting like Fringe, this misrepresentation has the potential to cause big scheduling conflicts, as it did for me. I had another show scheduled right away and missed the beginning of it due to the 15 minute difference in expectation.

My overall impression

I found this show quite affecting as a rumination on grief and loss, with many moments of humor and insight about dealing with the ongoing effects of losing a loved one. With only a few moments that pertain to the very specific and high-profile nature of Mrs. Shaeffer’s daughter’s death, this piece serves as an elegy that is very relatable to anyone who has been in a similar position. The writer’s feelings and experiences are organized very thoughtfully and effectively, and performed with great care and specificity.
