There is something special about walking into a tiny theatre knowing you are about to see a new work created in the DIY style.  This is how theatre magic manifests, in simple sets, props created by the actor, a body willing to walk into the unknown-on a non predictable physical journey is thrilling. This is what Fiona gives to her work, gives to her audience.  All of herself. All of her fears. All of her excitement. The way her right hand shakes in a moment reveals we are seeing an indescribable energy travel and it affects the heart in a subtle way. I swear your breath will find stillness as you witness the swing swaying back and forth onstage even without Fiona sitting upon it, is takes you back to the days when childhood was freedom, ther... full review

From the beginning of Charlotte's World or The Lone Terrarium I was blown away. The journey into the mind of Charlotte; dreams, worries, and experiences that everyone can relate to. It will brake your heart in a moment and repair it the next. Charlotte will dig into your heart and not let go, and throughout you will find yourself rooting for her to find what she is looking for. Fiona gave her everything in her performance as Charlotte. Her writing style is unique but engaging and will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. The poetry use was inspiring and overall this play is genuine magic. Bravo! ... full review

I absolutely loved this show. A fresh and heartbreaking view of what it means to live through the eyes of a little girl. The writing is so seamless, I was sad it ended so quickly. The acting was captivating and sincere. Don’t miss this one!... full review

Brave writing radiates through the vulnerability of a 11year old girl, isolated and struggling with the meaning of life and death, hope and dreams of flying. What a beautiful lyrical philosophical journey we go on with Charlotte, while she crafts together new wings from an old kite and daydreams about the neighborhood boy she had a crush on. Her fears are a palpable, her curiosity universal, and her dreams are BIG. All from the delicate intimacy of her attic. Thank you for an entrancing night of theatre and heart-filled exploration of love.... full review

Triumphant and inspirational. I want a hard copy so I can keep reminding myself to trust and believe. ... full review

Fiona Lakeland did a magnificent job embodying the character of Charlotte. As an audience I was drawn in to her character completely. From the beginning of the show throughout the end, Charlotte is the kind of character I would've wanted to have been friends with when I was a kid. I felt like I was right there throughout every single moment of Lakeland's work. It's fun, imaginative, vulnerable and it's an experience through the eyes of a character beautifully written by Lakeland. ... full review

Charlotte’s World is inspiring & heartbreaking. Brilliant honesty is what we need. Fiona Lakeland wrote & performed this one woman show. After getting home from Theatre of Note I was thinking about how the play felt like it had a big cast, there was so much richness and so many things to think about. The character Charlotte definitely inspires us to remember to always take flight even when we’re unsure about where we’ll land. It’s all in the believing. ... full review

In this piece as lovely and delicate as a handmade pair of wings, Fiona Lakeland deftly embodies the physicality and spirit of a fully realized character: 11 year old Charlotte, who is both naive and wise, vulnerable and brave. We're invited into her rich inner world, a magical place which seems a necessary escape from a home life evoked in troubling, sparingly doled out details. Lakeland doesn't shy away from this darkness but lets it inform what is ultimately a hopeful play about transcending fear and attempting the impossible.... full review
