What I liked

He had me wanting more, hanging on every word and invested in the people he encounters and how he challenges their worlds as much as he begins to understand the world he lives in. There is such vibrancy to Cooper’s delivery.

What I didn't like

It was a comprehensive take through various times in his youth, and I’d be interested to see Cooper explore some of his experiences even more fully.

My overall impression

Cooper Bates held my attention and had me interested in hearing any and all of the stories he had to tell. Based on his experience growing up the only black boy in Hill City, Kansas, in the 70s, he will take you on a ride through the pain and triumphs of his life and how that shapes him to this very day. Gripping and raw. The hour flew by.
