What I liked

I like the intimate setting as it put us close to the performance. Also, the simplicity of props and effects helped me to open my Mind to visualize the story.

What I didn't like

I am not familiar with all of these small studios, but it would be nice if there was more time between shows. Felt like we got rushed out.

My overall impression

This was a great solo performance! Cooper Bates is a great story teller and I felt as though I was sharing his journey as a young boy trying to navigate life as a black child growing up in mostly white community. It was an emotional ride through happiness, sadness, anger, frustration and understanding. Worth every minute.
