What I liked

The perspective and approach to the subject matter; the inclusion of Bianca’s friends in the storyline as a sort-of how-to in helping a friend who has been sexually assaulted cope.

What I didn't like

While I get that the intention was not to demonize Chase, it still felt as though Chase was very clearly the bad guy. Perhaps cutting out the confrontation between Chase and Tomar would help us not to other Chase so much. I also was surprised that Tomar didn’t blame himself more – he almost immediately pushes the blame off onto Chase, when he was the one who left Bianca behind in the first place.

My overall impression

This is a show with a message that needs to be sung from the mountain tops – while short, (a mercy, considering the heavy subject matter) the play manages to take us through the entire lived experience and perspective of what it’s like to be a victim of “the gray” areas of sexual assault. It’s a piece designed to open dialogues about consent, particularly on college campuses, where discussions about these things are greatly needed. It’s an incredible, educational look into different perspectives like we haven’t seen before. The Gray should be required viewing for everyone at least once!
