This startlingly intimate portrait of contemporary white apathy using the words of legendary black artists is intricate, subtle, beautifully performed and a necessary call to action.
These are women who make me hopeful for the future of socially conscious theater and for a different world....

A powerful, thought provoking show with stellar performances that had me reflecting on my own identity. Equal parts heart-warming and gut-wrenching this is a performance that will stay with you long after leaving the theater....

This is the kind of theatre that is so necessary. A powerful performance from the ensemble cast as they transformed The Lounge completely and brought us into a world of history, pain and perseverance. Words were woven throughout moments of movement, dance, sound recordings, and beautiful a cappella singing from Sandy Rather. It was a memorable and transformative experience that educates poetically on the black experience in america. ...

Maybe because the denial it takes to abide by our system and administration is getting harder for allies like myself to ignore, yet still leaves me light. But having to actually feel the weight of the story of another’s brutal realizations at 5 years old and everyday since left me heavy and unable to move, in ways I’ve not quite heard before (referring specifically to Francesca Gamez’s monologue about the American Flag). That is theater that makes me FEEL something. Bravo! A poetic piece that uses dance, movement, a cappella singing and more to lay out the state of injustice beautifully, unapologetically and quite matter-of-factl...

An intense and grounding experience (from the program to the final blackout), this production mixes movement, audience immersion, music, and devised/documentary theater to call audiences to examine their own privileges and biases and look through the eyes of others....
