What I liked
I really liked the score and how it weaves through the piece. Stacy’s honesty about such a challenging time in her life and how she wove it together with Dave’s story works really well. There’s no victimization whatsoever, so you are really with her through the whole journey.
What I didn't like
I felt like the story could be enhanced with stronger directorial choices. I felt it was a little wishy-washy and I wanted the movement to have a little more purpose, which would only make the story stronger.
My overall impression
The Other Side of the Razor Ribbon is such a great story, authentic and honest, as is Stacy’s performance. The way she combines the two stories is riveting and keeps your attention from start to finish. The original score by her son, Derrick, is a lovely touch. I really appreciated Stacy’s vulnerability and emotionality, which of course, with true, personal stories is the key!
