Nothing. I just wanted the shows to be longer bc I loved them.
My overall impression
Both shows took my breath away. Truly some of the best work I’ve seen from performers in a long, long time. Each show achieves the difficult task of striking the right balance between hilarious & heartbreaking. The first piece, Alyssa’s on the “simulacra,” is like a feminist take on Black Mirror; in fact, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that her 30 minute show is far more thoughtful and powerful than anything Black Mirror has made in years. Her show is one of the most powerful depictions of the toxic relationship between the media and modern day feminism that I’ve ever seen.
The second show, Angela’s “My Dead Mom’s Funeral,” is a hilarious yet moving piece that everyone needs to see. Angela’s wit, creativity, & masterful acting chops moves the entire theater to tears of both laughter and sorrow. Both of these women are true talents. Do yourself a favor and see them now before they get big. I have no doubt that we will be seeing great things from both Angela & Alyssa.
