What I liked

I don’t want to spoil too much, but Virker was able to pull from the LONG used and exhausted tropes of characters that we all know a bit too well to assign backstories easily and welcome us to a multitude of universes we know…or do we? Once watching this play the perspective to which I see leading women pre 2019, and let’s be honest, some 2019 roles, makes hollywood’s view on women laughable to me. What’s worse? We BELIEVE it. Or maybe I’m one of the few suckers who did. Unlikely. I also should note that this is like a 3 For 1 Play. Virker dances throughout the entire thing, and it’s good. Like, oh, I want to sign up for a dance class good. Final note, this show may be triggering to men who are also victims to Hollywood’s take on women. If they are confused as to why them themselves haven’t found their ideal girl, this show will be a nice wakeup call to them too. :)

Beavers’ play which was a personal piece was oddly relatable. The way she speaks about her home town, the way she views herself compared to it, and the openness to which she speaks about her relationship with her mother instantly connects you to her. We aren’t perfect and neither are our parents, but Beavers shows that in the world of imperfect people, our parents are sometimes the perfect people for us and in return we can only do our best to be the perfect children to our parents. It’s a really emotional show that deals with a heavy subjuct with just the right amount of humor and a cry from me at the end. Bring tissues!

What I didn't like

Nothing really…

My overall impression

I’m not one for plays in general, so watching two shorts for the price of one was perfect for me! I liked that the plays didn’t really focus so much on the environment/sets but physically embodied both their worlds themselves but in such different ways.
