The interplay between herself and a prerecorded “voice-of-god” narrator is a true delight. With his surreptitious guidance, she explores the four archetypes laid out for her- Catwoman, Amelie, Nutmeg, and Mary. Each represents a common mold a modern woman might find herself in. She struggles, but will she find her own voice?
Angela’s play included an hilarious refrain- a reliance on freeeulogy.com. Giving appropriate time and respect to her dead mother, she strives to remember and honor her without forgetting the juicy details. Both ladies brought down the house.
What I didn't like
Very little, as far as a I, an uninterested layman, can tell.
My overall impression
A surreal exploration of human pathos- what makes us move and why. The woman- Alyssa Virker, I believe- communicates through wild movement and lightning flashes of character, maintaining a quick tempo throughout.
The second play, with Angela Beevers, maintained the rapid fire, and was a supremely satisfying next act. She explored the darkness with a steady eye, and she found gold in unlikely places.
