What I liked
The pairing of the two shows was great. The first of the two, Simulakra, was so wonderfully bonkers, expertly conceived and extremely well performed (like take your breath away holy shit I can’t believe Virker is doing this). The second show, My Dead Mom’s Funeral, nicely balanced the grief and humor of losing a parent (who seemed to be a bit bonkers herself in the best way).
What I didn't like
I would be interested to see the two shows flipped. Because Simulakra was so high concept and visually striking, it may have played better after the more straightforward comedic/personal growth journey of My Dead Mom’s Funeral.
My overall impression
Two bold, unique solo shows for the price of one bold unique solo show! Both shows take you to uncomfortable places and beyond with a lot of wit, bite, and intelligence.
