For the LGBTQ community in America, the options for where a person could comfortably and confidently live an out life were limited to large urban areas across the country and the impetus was so often to go west for many LGTBQ pioneers. California represented freedom. California represented the possibiity of living an out life without judgment. California represented the LGBTQ community’s chance to claim their part of the American Dream. California Dreams will explore the experiences of our community of LGBTQ seniors as they made their own journeys west, both literally and symbolically.
