My overall impression
Comedians David Janove and Jackie Smith promise you’ll love No Refunds if you lower your expectations enough. Luckily for them, had I gone in with any expectations at all- they would have been met and exceeded, regardless.
Sporting their own brand of awkward comedy, Janove and Smith imagine a variety of comically uncomfortable scenarios. Utilizing multi-media, No Refunds, successfully elicits laughs from each and every medium directors Tom Ptasinski and Andrew Merrill choose to utilize. From sketches as simple as a date gone awry to the more complex, like the imagining of a husband and wife running against one another in a political campaign (for the record, Smith had my vote), Janove and Smith successfully take on a variety of unique (but equally stunted) personas.
The very funny Janove could step into The Office without anyone batting an eye, and as for Smith, anyone wondering who the next Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, or Kristen Wiig will be need to look no further than this cute, spunky brunette who can move from innocent to crass in a bat of an eye, and naturally becomes her characters, instead of portraying them.
