What I liked
Wayne Self’s musical tragedy could be a success just on a humanitarian level, bringing this story into our collective consciousness – and it is. It is also beautifully told, with soulful tunes and insightful writing about loss and love and what it means to make a man feel like a man. It’s also cathartic as hell, and by the end we feel we’ve been through the wringer and are somehow more whole for having been present here.
What I didn't like
My overall impression
Heartbreaking and important, with humor, poignancy and great music reflective of the city it came from.
