What I liked

I saw “Transition” written by Ray Richmond. I was aware of the show and knew it it received great reviews. But I went in thinking it was a comedy. There were plenty of moments to laugh, but I came away with a sense of history-in-the-making and abject fear. That is a compliment. The fear coming from the fact Richmond’s play “Transition” mirrors the reality that we are living this nightmare—that Donald Trump is the current President of the United States. Ray Richmond crafted a “what if?” moment in history which resonates with our time. The acting was strong - the character of Obama felt so real, I felt it was really Obama in front of me. The character of Trump felt like a caricature at first, but was true to what Trump is- a warped narcissist with ADHD and no common sense or empathy or awareness of the world around him.

What I didn't like

Theatre was freezing cold.

My overall impression

Good play. Poignant. Unnerving. Illiuminating.
