What I liked

I loved “The Girl Who Jumped Off the Hollywood Sign”! I found the story and writing to be very engaging. Joanne Hartstone’s acting as Evie Edwards was incredible. I liked the minimal set and as the sole performer, Hartstone’s energy and good use of space on stage (along with the writing, smart lighting cues and sound cues) allowed me to envision even more throughout the story, be it a crowded bar, a tense office or a hopeful casting room. I found all the characters interacting with our hero Evie, to be believable and crucial to the story. As it is a one woman show, Hartstone obviously portrayed all the characters, and what’s impressive about this is she not only captures the audience’s sympathy and love for the main character but at times for the father as well. Further more, the native Australian actress maintains a solid old Hollywood style American accent throughout for Evie and the other characters as well who all have their own distinct voice. The singing is lovely and only adds more depth to the story and main character.

My overall impression

5 out of 5 stars! Joanne Hartstone is an incredibly talented actress, writer and singer and everyone should check out her show to see all her talents.
