Very funny and ultimately devastating and heartbreaking monologue about searching for love and true connection. David brings a lot of humor to a story that ultimately left me feeling so sad for the ways we isolate ourselves. Beautiful depiction of a soul searching for a home with a lot of outrageous, crazy adventures along the way. I said to my friend on the way home that the tag line would be something like “It’ll take you right back to your worst heartbreak” — which we both acknowledged sounds like it would keep people away, but in fact we all want to mine that wound forever, don’t we?
What I didn't like
I had some shaping thoughts, but these were rare moments of pulling out of the piece and thinking like a director. The piece is still a bit in development, but that’s also what I liked about it. It feels raw and new and full of pain. The ending feels hard won.
