What I liked

Loved the mix of multimedia — the sound, the visuals all worked together to create a dark and haunting world that drew us in and made us feel. I appreciated the interpretive nature of the piece. It is such a devastating and moving story that words would not have sufficed. Body language was the only way to communicate such a physically (and yet emotionally) abusive journey such as this.

What I didn't like

Wished it was longer! It was heavy, but I would have liked to journey through this life a little more. But I also understand that it IS heavy and maybe a longer runtime would have made this show hard to take in.

My overall impression

Dark, moving, haunting. Told through interpretive movement, Christina captures the emotion behind the journey of a young girl who is bought, used, and discarded for someone else’s pleasure. The visuals and sounds all work together to create a world that draws us in and makes us feel. Toys may be short (runtime is barely 18 min), but it packs a powerful punch. I walked away really thinking about issues surrounding the sex trade industry.
