What I liked

Financial Insights:
The play, written by Ray Richmond and featuring performances by Harry S. Murphy and Joshua Wolf Coleman, enjoyed its initial run at The Lounge Theatre in Hollywood from March 11 to April 16, 2017. Despite the provocative subject matter, Transition managed to draw significant attention and maintain a steady audience throughout its limited engagement. This success underscores its appeal and the marketability of politically charged theatrical productions in today’s entertainment landscape.

Artistic Achievement:
Critics have lauded Transition for its authenticity and comedic brilliance, portraying the meeting not as a caricature but as a nuanced exploration of real-life figures. The performances by Murphy and Coleman are particularly praised for their depth and insight into the minds of Obama and Trump, navigating between irreverence and poignancy with skillful precision.

Critical Acclaim:

Joe Straw hails it as “ingenious and as close to perfection as one can get.”
L.A. Daily News notes, “The performances aren’t just Vegas impressions but get to the crux of these two men.”
Arts Beat L.A. calls it “a brilliant piece that’s well-researched, plausible and incredibly funny.”
Theatre Notes praises it as “a delicious comedy, well-paced and briskly directed.”
Accessibly Live declares it “witty, biting and fast-paced…A rip-roarin’ hoot!”

My overall impression

This two-person, 80-minute production delves deep into the clash of ideologies and personalities between these two powerful figures, offering a blend of comedy and serious contemplation.
