I enjoyed learning about Robert Ingersoll, a realist who was not afraid to speak truth to power (the Catholic Church) and raise questions about human rights when it was downright dangerous to do so. Ernest Kearney picks and chooses from Ingersoll’s speeches and writings, giving us a well-rounded portrait of this well rounded man – indeed, Kearney even wore a fat suit! As an added bonus, the producers offered free books (poetry, political, biography) to all who attended. A fun, informative and greatly theatrical evening.
