What I liked
Ruth makes great use of the space, it’s one of the more prop heavy productions I’ve seen, but she creates a space that felt safe and personal. As an audience I felt like a close friend being privy to secrets and some very moving revelations. I loved the specificity of her storytelling, as she takes the time to paint the picture of various aspects of her life, be it her family, her Filipino roots, her fist love, her heartbreaks, it’s all given the right amount of care and attention. Ruth is incredibly talented in what she does, and the vulnerability she displays on stage, be it in the joys or pains of her life, really makes you root for, and care about her and her story. The play is an hour long but it did not feel like it was, I did not zone out at all (and I tend to easily zone out in many of the 1 hour shows I’ve seen thus far).

My overall impression
One of the best shows I’ve seen in this year’s Fringe! A very moving, incredibly grounded, and deeply personal account of a woman’s coming of age. Ruth is a phenomenal storyteller. This show is not to be missed!
