This show was incredibly moving and inspiring to watch. Kate moves with fluidity through every scene, keeping perfect pace throughout. Her character work is phenomenal – especially loved when she’d play dual roles in scenes. She utilized the space incredibly well.
The subject matter is challenging, as it deftly resonates with anyone who has struggled with an eating disorder, mental health issue, or knows someone who has. Kate bravely takes us through her own inner struggle, which is more relate-able than she may realize. The ending is uplifting. RUN, don’t walk to SEE THIS.
What I didn't like
Honestly, there was nothing that I didn’t like about the show. I will say, however, that there were moments (as someone who has previously – and very briefly – struggled with an eating disorder) where I felt a bit triggered, as in I had thoughts about counting calories, etc., again, but it was MUCH MORE empowering than it was triggering, if that makes sense. Kate did a great job of showing all sides of struggling with an eating disorder and didn’t sugar-coat anything which was wonderfully refreshing.
And might I also add, I LOVED “real” Kate better than alternate universe Kate. I think that our struggles are what make us more interesting, stronger people. <3
My overall impression
Inspiring, humorous & thought-provoking show with a brilliant performance by the immensely talented Kate Huffman, who bravely takes the audience on a journey into the mind of a woman living with an eating disorder. A must-see (again & again)!
