Splendid vehicle for a superb performer, STEPHENSPIEGEL, as well as a reminder of the accidents of history that led inexorably from a kidnap plot directly to Lincoln’s assassination.
What I didn't like
Could be trimmed (only a bit) and tightened to focus more immediately on the plot rather than the competitive family history.
My overall impression
Lengthy but progressively more absorbing POV of John Wilkes Booth justifying the patriotism of his assassination of President Lincoln. A 75-minute marathon for a solo show performer, so they’re lucky to have STEPHENSPIEGEL, who brings Experience and Charisma (that reminded me of my favorite, Kevin Kline) to the mighty task of capturing Mr Booth’s ego and well as his cunning.
