What I liked
Paul’s performance was phenomenal. He made his characters extremely strong and accurate. I loved that this story was something different. I’ve never seen a performance talking about this subject. It was unique, and eye opening, and made me want to learn more about the misconceptions about asians in not only Hollywood, but our country. This play made the whole audience feel enlightened and ready to make a difference in their community. One could literally feel the electric current of appreciation throughout the audience. It was amazing.
What I didn't like
I wish more people could see this performance. There are so many people who need more education on Asian American culture and white washing in general. Paul could really start a positive movement into making Asian culture more respected in America.
My overall impression
Through humor, self experience, and hard hitting facts Paul entertainingly educates how swept under the rug Asian American culture is, especially in Hollywood.
Paul’s use of relatable American heroes turned into different Asian American stories made the characters extremely genuine, and it set the tone for a very eye opening experience.
Personally, I am Caucasian and come from an area where there is not a large Asian population. Most of the content in Paul’s performance, I was unknowingly blind to. His performance not only opened my eyes to the absence of Asian heroism in our culture, but also the extreme amount of white washing that influences us in entertainment.
Paul’s performance was inspiring, and most of all made me want to be a more inclusive individual.
You could tell how meaningful this play was to Paul, and his passion really drove the performance. Overall, this show was an amazing experience. I wish everyone could experience Paul’s passion, acting skill, and positivity!
