Through art, the show raised great awareness of social issues that I deeply care about, but couldn’t explain without complaining or preaching. It also opened my eyes to a whole culture/history I didn’t know, and of the past generation of Asian Americans who gave back to this amazing country. The play points out how film/television plays a major role in racial/social issues. The 2016 oscars and the stereotyping of Asian Americans proves Paul’s point. The play also involves some of the coolest super heros, and through Paul’s performance, I was able to connect and identify with the characters in a way I never have growing up as a child. Representation matters. In my eyes, Paul is Goku!
What I didn't like
I don’t like that my friends in my hometown can’t see this play.. it’s very unfortunate.
My overall impression
This was something I personally needed to see in my life. I feel this play was a perfect way of raising awareness on social issues without complaining or preaching. It’s amazing to me that one man, a small stage, and the Hollywood fringe, taught me so much about my own community and self identity.
