What I liked

Jessica Lynn Johnson’s direction was invisible in the best way, truly supporting the performer and writing. I loved the use of the exposed staircase throughout. To his credit Les told this story without the use of a single chair. The lack of a traditional set or even a chair allowed the audience to move from location to location with ease.

What I didn't like

This venue has horrible site lines for the audience sitting in the back. I knew this going in so found a seat in front. I think it would be easy enough for the risers to be rebuilt and add better seating, but the show itself was fantastic.

My overall impression

Les is a master of the personal story! He brings you into his confidence early on, making you feel as if you are lucky enough to hear his full account of this adventure. The writing was clever and smart, but his performance was so natural you forget it isn’t impromptu. By the end of the show I too found myself really missing Alaska! I can’t wait to hear the next installment.
