What I liked

The writing was fluid and the references were relevant. Even if you didn’t grow up in that era, the show was still enjoyable and relatable.

What I didn't like

I truly had a great time. My only critique was the sound but, that could have been a technical fluke the night I attended.

My overall impression

Now That’s What I Call a Musical Vol 1. Writers Pamela Eberhart and Dan Testa did not hold back on this totally nostalgic comedy of post-adolescent life in the 90s. Directed by Andy Kenareki, the rad ensemble of The 13th Grade was able to deliver a little bit of everything that we know and miss from the days at the dawn of the Y2K. With a musical book that plays like your favorite mixtape, showstoppers like the boy bandesque “You can suck me off” and the Jewel-like “Jem Bobby” pay homage to some far out Hot Topics of the nineties: Gay Sex, Bad Boys and HPV. What can I say, crafty comedy left me light as a feather and stiff as a board! Brava!
