What I liked

The craft trio, the script was super funny, the harmonies, I had a blast! Have a great run, guys!

What I didn't like

The ticket woman refused to honor the button discount and when I checked back on the site to write a review I double checked to see that there indeed is one- while it’s just a dollar that sort of thing adds up and is important in the fringe community so hey production team id clue your box office person in for next time!

I preferred the songs with live music and the a Capella stuff, BUT the nature of the recorded tracks ended up lending an extra 90s feel by the end- still this show could be really fun in a bigger space with things like mics and maybe a live band- would love to see it expanded.

My overall impression

13th Grade is a super fun 1990s musical! Strong cast all around. The script was excellent and it was carried out effectively with hilarious results. This show is a great example of a solid “fringe musical” – in years past that term has gotten to mean some bothersome things like that it wasn’t great or that it was thrown together – 13th grade is a great “fringe” musical because it presents a full evening of entertainment in an hour without us feeling jipped (though I’d see an extended version for sure), it deals with the limitations of being in a festival – 10 or so characters crammed onto a teeny stage but they made great use of what they had. Their choreo was hilarious and the songs were catchy and fun!
