Elbee, a homeless woman living beneath an L.A. freeway overpass, is discovered by Gwen, a county social worker, seeking out possible occupants for a new housing facility. Gwen is determined to move Elbee out – and Elbee is just as determined not to move from her encampment. Gwen seizes upon Elbee’s apparent theatrical past by quoting Oscar Wilde and G.B. Shaw to convince her to leave. Elbee, for her part, threatens gunplay and the factual realities of being ‘housed’ in a shelter. As the two women argue, joke and reveal their pasts, they discover a startling secret that alters both their lives.
