The staging, production design, immersive elements, costumes, dancing, and use of the space was all top notch. The concept—female Dracula—is very intriguing.
What I didn't like
The ending came unexpectedly; I thought there would be one more scene. Some of the dialogue rang dissonant to my ears. I liked the scenes of Dracula’s origin story and wish that continued, but the play chained itself to the rails of Bram Stoker’s novel.
My overall impression
There are so many good things about the production—lighting, music, atmosphere, interaction, immersive elements—that the flaws are quite stark in comparison. I feel that some great opportunities for exploration of feminine power, sexuality, authority, and creation (creating another vampire like you as a metaphor for childbirth) were left lying on the table. There’s a lot of potential.
