What I liked

Hilarious concept, and the parody is executed perfectly. It keeps in tone with “Godot” while simultaneously managing to be laugh out loud hilarious. The skewering of celebrity behavior and ego (Bono’s especially) had me doubled over, and was also very thoughtful. The dynamic between Richard as Bono and Curt Collier as The Edge was sensational, with Bruno Oliver and Jeff Blumberg adding some serious acting chops as Domingo & Lucky. It’s like one beautiful, twisted SNL sketch that would never ever air because people wouldn’t get it. But this audience FULLY GOT IT AND LOVED IT! God I love theatre people.

What I didn't like

Nothing. It was brilliant. I want things like this every day of my life.

My overall impression

“Waiting For Godomino’s” is nothing like you’d expect. And yet… exactly what you’d expect? I mean, U2 waiting for pizza delivery in a Samuel Beckett nightmare? It’s nothing short of genius. I was howling from start to finish. Richard Lucas has created a bizarre new genre of post-modern-absurdism. Like a snake eating its own tale, the comedy constantly collapses on itself in your mind, “Inception”-style, which only makes it funnier. And yet, there is a poignant message about celebrity, wealth, and the purpose of art at the core of the show? Hats off to Mr. Lucas and the gang. I think Beckett would be proud. Bono not so much. :P
