What I liked
The actors did a wonderful job of immediately pulling the audience into this eerie world. From the beginning they reeled me in and put me in the disturbing environment that I didn’t really want to be in. But, this is the story that was being told and I went along with it. What made this even more fascinating was the great set design to really just pull you in deeper. The morbid world that you are forced to enter is haunting and disturbing. But this is what Fringe is all about. The actors handled very well what I saw as a beautiful disturbing world.
What I didn't like
They say hammering an audience with the point is not good, instead they do it to a character. The brutality of violence is shown clearly on stage. On a personal note, the idea of watching someone being brutally murdered is not all so entertaining. It did fit in well with the story and was definitely warranted— but some may be horrified. I will say that the production was very professional and very aware of this and I along with everyone was warned. And this is what Fringe is for. Experimentation to see how far a show can push things.
My overall impression
Overall, the production was fascinating. The surreal look and interesting style was for sure creative, unique and like something I have not seen before. The poetic dialogue and talented cast made this worth watching. Although, this was disturbing as hell… and maybe this story was a step into hell, I was for sure interested in seeing where the story was taking me. It is exciting to see how Fringe can put up such interesting shows!
