June 16, 2017What I liked
The acting in this show was strong across the boards and the actors showed great range and versatility in switching between multiple characters throughout the show. The last line of the play gave me goosebumps and left a lasting impression on me. The way the play within a play tied together at the end was very powerful and thought provoking.
What I didn't like
While I loved the play within a play aspect, the shift from the play to the players was sometimes jarring. I wonder if there is a way to clarify those shifts to either make them more seamless or more purposely jarring. I recognize this was probably a purposeful decision, and I think this show will grow and benefit with a longer run time outside of Fringe and the space within the script to work out the transitions. That being said, it was still incredibly inventive and I sincerely hope this show continues to develop post Fringe.
My overall impression
A skillfully acted ensemble piece with a powerful, thought-provoking story and inventive theatrical devices. Highly recommended.
