Here’s Izzy, ready to share with an audience her unique approach towards life. She lives by very strict guidelines, or as she likes to call them – manifestos. A manifesto can be a list of bullet points or just a few words. But whatever it is, it must be an exact declaration of a new attitude, a new way of challenging yourself. Izzy believes writing a manifesto is an important way of making sure you don’t fall onto one of life’s conveyor belts and disappear. A terrible, but easy job, a safe, but depressing relationship – these are booby traps that Izzy seeks to avoid. Of course, even manifestos can get stale in the end, that why sometimes you have to rub them out and start again.
Over a twenty year period, we follow Izzy’s journey in her own words. From her happy, turned tragic childhood, her art school years, friendships and eventual self-discovery. Izzy isn’t always an easy person to love – she gets angry a lot. She’s angry because her father died when she was kid, angry because her mom’s got a new boyfriend, angry because she’s deeply insecure and believes other people don’t like her. The truth is, Izzy has got a friend, a very special friend called Becca, if only she’d realize how close they really are.
Izzy’s journey is exhilarating, funny and occasionally heart-breaking. A journey where she will discover that even for the wildest free spirit, it is impossible to find peace without making a lasting human connection.
